Come on there RFWers! Put your name on the list, then go away and think about your masterpiece! I can't wait for this one...who will I choose...Rhett and Scarlett? Edward and Bella? Mr Rochester and Jane? Elizabeth and Mr Darcy? So many choices...
Okay, I do have a question. Does it have to be a famous couple?
I don't know many that I could write, since in particular I write m/m. My only fanfiction idea is from an anime that not many people have heard of and the couple I would write has one character from the show and one character I created, as it's posited in the future, past when the show ended. Does that make it within the confines of the prompt or no?
Probably not technically, Dawn, but it sounds fascinating. As with all of us, you'd need to fill us in at the beginning of your post, tell us about your characters/story, so we can get the most of it.
Our rules aren't meant to be completely rigid. Fan Fiction is usually written using well-known (to most people) characters like we mentioned in the write up which you can check on the Challenges Page. Of course all the examples are hetero to the max...
Keep at it Sally! I think I know what I am going to write; but then again maybe not... This is tricky because you want to take something that is not your original idea and make it your own.
I am CLUELESS ..... I will have to really think about this one. Denise and Donna, this one is A REAL CHALLENGE for me. I just can't dream up something out of my head as I ALWAYS do.... DARN!!!! LOL.
Hi everyone Life has finally settled down a little and I can focus on a story. No ideas yet but by tomorrow morning I will have a couple characters ready to go. Is it okay if I choose non lovers from a story and turn the tables on them? Of course, I may change my mind. Fickle. Nancy
Thanks Denise Oh and I've decided, not that I know a lot about this couple. I'm in the middle of the book, slow going. I find it very long and unnecessary, however my daughter is a huge fan so I thought I'd read it.
We will take them where I'm sure the author hasn't even considered. Hehe. Nancy
I do like the way you're having sign ups this time around. I'm so much more likely to actually follow through if I've signed up in advance, whereas, if I have to sign up after I've posted, I may never get around to posting. What a fun prompt.
OK, I gave it a shot and I will schedule a post for the 21st, but I'm not particularly comfortable with fan fiction and I'm not too sure I like where it took me.
Well Linda, there is a huge fan fiction movement, so we must try it at least once. I don't like feeling too comfortable with my writing -- it is fiction after all. Can't wait to read the different takes on this!
To everyone! Adura sent me an email saying sorry she's been incommunicado for so long. She sends her hellos to all RFWers! I'm hoping she'll be back posting here soon! I'm sure you do too!
I'm up. I couldn't find the 'x' to delete my name and add a direct link (technophobic). Great entries so far, will add comments later but have been persuaded to be taken out to lunch today!
I'm running behind - had a couple things come up off-line I'm still finishing up. I'll should have mine up by tomorrow though, and I'll be visiting around too. Thanks everyone for participating. I look forward to reading all the excerpts.
sorry I missed this one... I was busy preparing my... NEW BOOK! SQUEAL :)! Okay - sorry, I didn't mean to shout :) Can't believe it's on Amazon.. Laura x
Now that the linky is closed and all the excerpts seem to be posted, I want to thank everyone for participating in this challenge. I enjoyed reading all the story concepts and getting a glimpse into some literature I haven't read yet.
Well done everyone.
And to those who were unable to post for whatever reason, there's always another time. Not every prompt resonates with every writer :) Thanks to those who hopped around and read all the submissions.
Well that does it for me. I visited everyone who had working links. Some of you sure surprised me with your brilliance. I can see so much improvement in writing skills. As always, it is such an honor to be a part of RFW's and all you great authors. Nancy

ReplyDeleteOh, and just look at the March challenge! Murder! Mayhem! But love...
ReplyDeleteYou twisted my arm, this is one I'm not that sure of, but then again, I love a challenge!
ReplyDeleteNow March, murder, mayhem that does sound doable! :)
Hi,
ReplyDeleteReally interesting challenge this month! Looking forward to some sumptuous reads! :)
Hello Everybody,
ReplyDeleteI've made the frame, now all I need to do is write the story.
Interesting theme for March.
Best wishes,
Anna
Should be a lot of fun. I've never done fan fiction before, so this will certainly be challenging for me :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck everyone.

I'm in. I've ZERO ideas on this one so far, but we'll see how it plays out (Tom and Jerry share a forbidden love?).
ReplyDeleteWell, maybe Tom and Nicole, lol!
DeleteOh I'm up for this one Charmaine ;)

Sorry, Dawn, I hit the wrong button. Your reply is below.
DeleteI second Denise (below). I say as long as you can link to an article/story/movie that shows the characters are not your own - then go for it.
DeleteOne caution I would make is not use biographies or memoir. Permissions can get dicey in those areas, and we only want to have a bit of fun here.

Dawn, Rek sent me a great link which has links to Anime.

Hi Denise and Donna, it's taken me a week to get something boiling in the back of my brain but I think I know who I'm going to write about.
ReplyDeleteKeep at it Sally! I think I know what I am going to write; but then again maybe not...
DeleteThis is tricky because you want to take something that is not your original idea and make it your own.
It is a challenge, but I just thought of my most loved stories from the past and built on that. Mine will be a monologue...
DeleteOh, a soliloquy perhaps? What soft, yonder light . . . lol.
DeleteSally, I know if you have a concept you will make it great :)

I am CLUELESS ..... I will have to really think about this one. Denise and Donna, this one is A REAL CHALLENGE for me. I just can't dream up something out of my head as I ALWAYS do.... DARN!!!! LOL.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
You'll work it out, Michael. Can't wait to read it.
DeleteMichael, I was thinking you might do Bonnie and Clyde, lol! Just see it! I'm sure you'll come up with something stupendous! As always!
DeleteMichael, I hope the inspiration has come, maybe while decorating those cakes!
DeleteYolanda just sent me a great link for writing a fan fiction disclaimer:

Thank you Yolanda!
I've finally got my couple. I just hope I can make their early days exciting for you.

Erin, I'm pleased you like the new trial for sign ups. It will be great if you can write more entries! Looking forward to your post.

ReplyDeleteOkay, deleted and reposted the linky to the specific post.
ReplyDeleteI posted mine. It's hard to stay under 1,000 words. I could write probably another 10 or 15k at least, lol.
ReplyDeleteDawn's is on her Fiction and Fitness blog!
