  1. Come on there RFWers! Put your name on the list, then go away and think about your masterpiece! I can't wait for this one...who will I choose...Rhett and Scarlett? Edward and Bella? Mr Rochester and Jane? Elizabeth and Mr Darcy? So many choices...

  2. Oh, and just look at the March challenge! Murder! Mayhem! But love...

  3. You twisted my arm, this is one I'm not that sure of, but then again, I love a challenge!

Now March, murder, mayhem that does sound doable! :)

  4. Hi,
Really interesting challenge this month! Looking forward to some sumptuous reads! :)

  5. Hello Everybody,
I've made the frame, now all I need to do is write the story.
    Interesting theme for March.
    Best wishes,
    Anna

  6. Should be a lot of fun. I've never done fan fiction before, so this will certainly be challenging for me :)
    Good luck everyone.

  7. I'm in. I've ZERO ideas on this one so far, but we'll see how it plays out (Tom and Jerry share a forbidden love?).

  8. Okay, I do have a question. Does it have to be a famous couple?

I don't know many that I could write, since in particular I write m/m. My only fanfiction idea is from an anime that not many people have heard of and the couple I would write has one character from the show and one character I created, as it's posited in the future, past when the show ended. Does that make it within the confines of the prompt or no?

    1. Sorry, Dawn, I hit the wrong button. Your reply is below.

    2. I second Denise (below). I say as long as you can link to an article/story/movie that shows the characters are not your own - then go for it.

One caution I would make is not use biographies or memoir. Permissions can get dicey in those areas, and we only want to have a bit of fun here.

    3. Dawn, Rek sent me a great link which has links to Anime.

Others might like to check it out.

  9. Probably not technically, Dawn, but it sounds fascinating. As with all of us, you'd need to fill us in at the beginning of your post, tell us about your characters/story, so we can get the most of it.

Our rules aren't meant to be completely rigid. Fan Fiction is usually written using well-known (to most people) characters like we mentioned in the write up which you can check on the Challenges Page. Of course all the examples are hetero to the max...

  10. Hi Denise and Donna, it's taken me a week to get something boiling in the back of my brain but I think I know who I'm going to write about.

    1. Keep at it Sally! I think I know what I am going to write; but then again maybe not...
This is tricky because you want to take something that is not your original idea and make it your own.

    2. It is a challenge, but I just thought of my most loved stories from the past and built on that. Mine will be a monologue...

      Delete
    3. Oh, a soliloquy perhaps? What soft, yonder light . . . lol.

Sally, I know if you have a concept you will make it great :)

  14. Hi everyone
Life has finally settled down a little and I can focus on a story. No ideas yet but by tomorrow morning I will have a couple characters ready to go. Is it okay if I choose non lovers from a story and turn the tables on them? Of course, I may change my mind. Fickle.

    1. Great to see you back Nancy. I was worried about you! I'm sure you'll pen a great story!

    2. Thanks Denise
Oh and I've decided, not that I know a lot about this couple. I'm in the middle of the book, slow going. I find it very long and unnecessary, however my daughter is a huge fan so I thought I'd read it.

We will take them where I'm sure the author hasn't even considered. Hehe.

  16. I do like the way you're having sign ups this time around. I'm so much more likely to actually follow through if I've signed up in advance, whereas, if I have to sign up after I've posted, I may never get around to posting.
    What a fun prompt.

  17. OK, I gave it a shot and I will schedule a post for the 21st, but I'm not particularly comfortable with fan fiction and I'm not too sure I like where it took me.

    1. Well Linda, there is a huge fan fiction movement, so we must try it at least once. I don't like feeling too comfortable with my writing -- it is fiction after all. Can't wait to read the different takes on this!

  18. To everyone! Adura sent me an email saying sorry she's been incommunicado for so long. She sends her hellos to all RFWers! I'm hoping she'll be back posting here soon! I'm sure you do too!

  34. Now that the linky is closed and all the excerpts seem to be posted, I want to thank everyone for participating in this challenge. I enjoyed reading all the story concepts and getting a glimpse into some literature I haven't read yet.

    Well done everyone.

And to those who were unable to post for whatever reason, there's always another time. Not every prompt resonates with every writer :) Thanks to those who hopped around and read all the submissions.
